The Firewood-Buddy is a quick and simple way to mark your wood to a consistent length. The Firewood-Buddy is a 16" (overall length) light weight fiberglass rod that attaches to any location on either side of any chainsaw bar with a super strong (you won't believe how strong) Neodymium (rare earth) magnet. After attaching the Firewood-Buddy, align the end of the Firewood-Buddy with the squared up end of the limb or log and cut a small notch with the saw chain. Move up the limb or log until the end of the Firewood-Buddy is aligned with the notch and make another. Continue marking your limb or log in this manner until you have enough marked to begin cutting your wood into rounds. If you cut your wood longer than 16", simply mark your Firewood-Buddy with an indelible marker or fingernail polish at the desired distance in excess of 16", measured from the end of the magnet. Now notch your wood at 16" as above, move up the wood so your mark is over the notch and make at second notch at the desired length - for example a 4" mark for a 20" cut. Remove the Firewood-Buddy from the saw bar (I stick it in my back pocket) and begin cutting your wood at the appropriate notches. NOTE: Keep the magnet away from a pacemaker or any magnetic media like credit card or driver's license strips. This strong magnet could damage or erase the information embedded in the strip. Each Firewood-Buddy comes packaged in a clear plastic hanging tube for easy storage on your peg board hook.
