The 3977767 dryer thermostat replacement is a high temperature thermostat with terminal extension arms. It acts as a safety mechanism so that the dryer does not overheat. Once the dryer temperature reaches 221 degrees Fahrenheit, this will turn off the power to the heating element until it drops by 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
